COVID-19 Update | Getting Through this Together

With COVID-19 cases surging once again in Louisiana, it’s important that we all do our part to slow the spread and keep ourselves, and our families, safe.

The coronavirus pandemic has evolved into more than just a public health crisis. Families all across the country have felt the pandemic’s effects on our economy, our employment, and on our education system. In order to solve these issues, we must first solve the public health crisis.

A key step in making it through this pandemic is ensuring the use of masks when out in public places. Wearing a mask minimizes the spread of the virus, protecting those who are most vulnerable. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and wear a mask for everyone’s safety.

As I continue working to find real solutions for our country during this time, I’m focused on ensuring that our students are able to return to school this fall and get the most out of their education. I had the pleasure of welcoming Vice President Pence to Louisiana this week to discuss plans for reopening our schools while ensuring the safety of teachers, parents and students alike.

I’m also working to expand access to telehealth services in Louisiana’s rural communities, and making sure rural hospitals have the funding necessary to treat coronavirus cases in our state’s less populated areas.

Our fight against COVID-19 is far from over, but with each of us doing our part to protect others, we will get through this pandemic together.

As always, thank you, and stay safe,
